Ensure that msnmsgr.exe and wlcomm.exe is completely shut down:
1.�Open Task Manager (press the keys Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the Task Manager option or make a right click on Task bar and choose Task Manager).
2.�Go to the Processes tab and look for the msnmsgr.exe andwlcomm.exe programs.
3.�If they are running, right click on them and select End process.
Change the Windows Explorer settings:
1.�Click Start, in the Search program and files field typeWindows Explorer and then click on Windows Explorer.
2.�From the drop down option Organize click on Folder and Search option.
3.�On the View tab, in the Advanced settings list, selectShow hidden files and folders under Hidden Files and Folders.
4.�Clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox.
5.�Click OK to close the Folder Options window.
Delete the Contacts Cache:
(note:�This folder will be re-created once you sign back in to Messenger)
1.�Click Start, click on Computer.
2.�Browse to the following�location: C:Users<Windows logon name>AppDataLocalMicrosoftMessenger(Windows logon name is your computer name or profile)
3.�Look for the folder which has your email address.�For example: firstname.lastname@example.org and delete it (right click, delete). Please note: Only delete the folder which has your email address associated to your Messenger account.�If you delete other items in the Contacts folder, they can抰 be recovered.
4. Navigate this path as well: C:Users<Windows logon name>AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows LiveContacts, then do step 3
Delete Messenger Temporary files:
1. Click Start
2. Type %temp% on the search box then press Enter (the exact path isC:UsersWindows logon nameAppDataLocalTemp)
3. Delete MessengerCache and MsgrTemp folders
Reboot your computer and sign back in to Messenger.
